Implementing software and IT systems requires a lot of investment - with high costs for hardware, software licenses, customization and installation, not to mention the day-to-day costs of maintenance and administration. But if you use software as a service, there is no initial investment as the service is provided over the internet, also elminating the need for service staff to operate and maintain the software. All of this is taken care of by the provider and is covered by your monthly fee. As a customer, you only pay for the services you actually use.

net-files was one of the first services in Germany to build a service on this model.

Some of the advantages of SaaS are:

  • no investment in hardware and software
  • no outlay for installation
  • the service is available within minutes
  • updates, upgrades, support and maintenance are included in the price
  • the costs incurred match actual use
  • no technical or economic risk

SaaS and cloud computing are particularly suited to collaboration in project teams and for secure file sharing. All project members have access to specified documents and directories and can collaborate on these files, no matter where they are, and even using mobile devices.
