Forums and Messages

In the integrated discussion forum, users can post questions to be answered by other team members. The threads will be documented for everyone to read and learn from. Discussion forums can also be used as a quick and easy way to poll members for their opinions on various topics.

With the integrated messaging function - a type of group chat - simple text messages can be sent quickly to all team members or to a selected group. These messsages are displayed automatically to all the recipients. Messages are archived by default and can be used as an additional form of documentation in a project.

Edit Documents Online

net-files has integrated various online applications that allow users to view, create and edit documents directly in the data space. This increases efficiency and simplifies the work for users, since the entire process of downloading and uploading documents is not necessary anymore. The following document types can be opened directly in the data space:

  • Formatted text (.htm, .html)
  • Word documents (.doc, .dot etc.)

Biometric Identification

Starting with version 5.2, users can login to net-files using their biometric Internet password from AXSionics AG instead of entering a username and password.

The AXSionics Internet passport is a credit card style device with a small display and a scanner for reading fingerprints. The major advantage of this card is that the biometric information is stored on the card itself and not in a central respository somewhere else. Starting now, all net-files users can identify themselves using their fingerprint instead of a username and password.

An additional security measure can be configured that requires users to enter a 6-digit token in addition to their username and password in order to be logged in successfully. Users would receive their code from net-files via a text message on their mobile phone.
